The Facultad de Agronomía y Sistemas Naturales (School of Agriculture and Natural Systems) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC) announces an international competition to fill an academic position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, on a full-time basis, for the development of undergraduate and graduate teaching and research in the area of sustainable management in animal husbandry.
Summary
We are seeking exceptional and highly motivated candidates for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of sustainable management in animal husbandry, on a full-time basis, to be part of a diverse and interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience related to management of animal systems for production of food or other products and services. The selected candidate must have the ability to develop independent and innovative research in the fields of sustainable management of animal rearing systems, and to participate in present and future research programs. Their training should include some of the following areas: animal feeding, sustainable farm animal production, or environmental impacts of animal systems, among others. Additionally, the candidate is expected to develop links with the UC School of Veterinary Medicine.
The selected candidate must be able to teach at least two undergraduate animal science courses for agronomy students and at least one graduate course (Management of Animal Production Systems); all courses must be taught in Spanish. One of the undergraduate courses to be taught is Livestock and Aquaculture Systems, and the other course may be related to the specific expertise of the candidate, such as: Animal Production, Ruminant Production, Swine and Poultry Production, Milk Production.
The candidate is expected to lead a research program in the area, having the responsibility for obtaining funding, planning research activities, generating scientific publications, and training graduate students. Additionally, the candidate is expected to develop links with community stakeholders and the productive sector, to support extension and technology transfer from research, in accordance with the standards established by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
